I love lipsticks and go back and forth between my love for matte vs hydrating formulas. I was super excited when NARS launched the Powermatte long lasting lipsticks. So I went to my local Sephora and swatched the entire line. I picked 4 shades I liked.
The Sephora website says that this is “A transfer-resistant, matte lipstick that glides on, delivering bold color with all-day comfort for up to ten hours.”

The lipstick case color will give you an idea of the lipstick shade enclosed within. Keep in mind it is not an exact match. The lipstick tube is slimmer than the regular NARS lipstick bullet.
Formula Of The NARS Powermatte Long-Lasting Lipstick
This product is free of parabens, formaldehydes, formaldehyde-releasing agents. Also it does not contain phthalates, mineral oil, retinyl palmitate, oxybenzone, coal tar, hydroquinone, sulfates SLS & SLES, triclocarban, and triclosan. Additionally it is also vegan. The Sephora website says “This lightweight, cream-to-matte lipstick glides on high-intensity color that lasts up to ten hours and remains comfortable all day. The one-swipe, immediate payoff formula sets to a smooth, matte finish.”

My Experience
As I have mentioned a few times on this blog, I love lipsticks. I mostly go for more hydrating formulas. But let me tell you something, these NARS Powermatte lipsticks are nothing like the mattes from a few years ago. The thinner shape of the bullet allows for a more precise application. Since the formula is pigmented I get full coverage in one swipe. Also these lipsticks are very lightweight. I feel as if I have no lipstick on. Most importantly, they feel comfortable on the lips. There is very little transfer once the lipstick dries down or sets.
I enjoy wearing the neutral shades to work very often. They fade beautifully too. I always use a lip mask at night and these days, my lips are in a condition to wear matte formulas. But if you have chronic dry lips, you might not enjoy the formula.
NARS did an awesome job with the Powermatte Long-Lasting Lipstick The packaging, formula and the shade range is all exquisite. I highly recommend these lipsticks.
