Your Boutique Shop open in Pearland

Your Boutique Shop opened Dec. 1 in Pearland, but owner Meagan Jones has been building her business for eight years.

Jones started the shop out of her home and had built an online-based client base. The brick-and-mortar store at 5038 Broadway was the next logical step.

“It was time,” said Jones.

The shop, which is also accessible on Facebook and Instagram, specializes in women and children’s clothing and accessories such as shoes, jewelry and purses.

For now, Your Boutique Shop caters to primarily women (sizes small to extra-large) and young girls (ages 2-3 and 10-12), but the plan is to eventually expand to include boys clothing. The shop’s color scheme — golds, whites, and pastels — reflects its aesthetic, said Jones.

“We’re chic and also girly,” she said.

Jones wanted to fill a niche for women looking for grown-up clothes and items. While Your Boutique Shop has its skinny and flare jeans in stock, she felt adult women needed some catering to as well.

“I try to cater to moms,” said Jones, who turned 38 on Christmas. “There are other boutiques, but they cater more to the younger crowd. I have some stuff that the younger crowd can wear, but I was trying to gear toward the older woman, like late 20s to whatever age. I have a few women who come in here and they’re in their 80s.”

Jones, who has a degree in fashion merchandising, also stays up with current styles with her versatile inventory.

“It’s laid-back casual, but you can also dress it up and go out,” she said.

The store is in a shopping center that includes two popular restaurants and a theater complex.

“We are smack dab in the middle of Pearland,” she said.

Originally from Lake Jackson, Jones and her husband, Brandon, lived in Webster for a few years before settling in Pearland eight years ago. Jones was a stay-at-home mother with two young children when she started her business. With support from her husband and with her children older, Jones decided to make the move to setting up a physical shop.

Jones is still taking online orders locally and from out of state. Her shop’s client base grew the traditional way.

“Most of my business is local and it was built from word of mouth and friend telling friends,” she said.

The building, at just over 1,000 square feet, allows Jones to expand her inventory.

“I’ve always wanted a brick-and-mortar shop,” she said. “The main difference (from working out of home) is that now I have a place to store my stuff, and not in the living room or dining room.”
